Case of the Month – December 2013 – Closed Rhinoplasty

The patient is a young woman who disliked her dorsal hump, but had no concerns about her nasal tip.  She benefited from a closed rhinoplasty  with no visible incisions and minimal disruption of the tip.  An incision on the inside of the nose was made for access to the dorsum so that it could be reduced.  Closed rhinoplasty in this setting provides adequate access for the patient’s aesthetic goals while having a reduced recovery time as well as unwanted changes to the tip.  Open rhinoplasty, in my practice, is the preferred approach for most other indications.
