Case of the Month – Gummi Bear Breast Reconstruction

The first patient is a woman with an “A” cup breast and thin post mastectomy coverage ,  who presents for delayed reconstruction.  The form stable implant allows for increased size and minimal to no rippling.  Note how the implant shows a tapered upper pole look versus the sharp drop off of the expander.

The second patient is a woman whohad radiation therapy to the right side and bilateral mastectomies.  She required bilateral latissimus flaps for improved coverage and symmetry.  The right side is slightly over expanded to counter radiation contraction and the form stable implant fills the upper pole nicely and resists contracture.
