Web Log – November 2018 – Snapchat Dysmorphia

Snapchat dysmorphia is a variation of body dysmorphic disorder.  The patient finds flaws and is obsessed with the Snapchat or selfie view of his or her face.  I have seen this phenomenon.  Most commonly, patients notice something that they do not like that is actually there, just not that apparent to the casual observer.  Sometimes operation is appropriate and sometimes it is not.  I always emphasize that there is never symmetry to a face before or after an operation.  Here are a couple of interesting links to elaborate on the topic.
