As the Case of the Month illustrates – a “simple” breast implant size increase – there is no such thing as a simple case. To me, Plastic Surgery is unique among the surgical specialties in that the end point is not necessarily a healthy patient ( we tend to assume that ), but a happy patient. As happy is a soft endpoint, every surgery demands all the Plastic Surgeon’s effort and attention to detail. While nothing is ever perfect, you get a lot closer if you are aiming at the target. That is why I am likely to be pretty serious with new patients and unlikely to say, “No problem, an easy, simple case.”
