Latissimus flaps are an excellent resource for post mastectomy breast reconstruction. In the first case of the month, latissimus flaps are used to allow expansion in the setting of radiation therapy. The patient had indications for bilateral mastectomies in the setting of radiation therapy on the left.
The second patient had anatomic factors making it difficult to make her very large. As she desired a large breast size, latissimus flaps were added to the expander reconstruction to improve coverage and support.
