Web Log - October 2010 - Welcome to our New Esthetician !
Sunday, October 17th, 2010Welcome to our new esthetician, Lindsey Tisdale. Lindsey is a licensed esthetician who trained at the Oliver Finley Academy. She brings up to date knowledge and enthusiasm to the position. She will be providing facials, microdermabrasion, peels, makeup counseling, and waxing.
Prior to her career as an esthetician, Lindsey worked at Gold’s Gym as a diet and fitness consultant. We plan to offer this service and others as her practice develops. Those who have tried her esthetician services so far have been impressed and we hope you will be too. Remember, esthetician services gift certificates make a great holiday present.
Case of the Month - October 2010 - Asian Blepharoplasty
Sunday, October 17th, 2010The patient is an Asian man who had difficulty seeing and felt aged secondary to extra upper eyelid skin. He had an upper blepharoplasty (removal of eyelid skin). Asian blepharoplasty is a different operation than the one performed on Caucasian patients. The skin is thicker, the incision goes in a lower location, and the medial (towards the nose) lid must be handled carefully. The operation must be performed in a way which gives improvement, maintains function of the eyelid (a bit of extra skin is needed to protect the eye - like a roll top desk), and preserves ethnicity.
Monthly Special - October 2010
Sunday, October 17th, 2010Pumpkin Peel half off for October and November - $37.50 (regularly $75)
The PCA Pumpkin Peel is a powerful antioxidant keratolytic treatment that can serve as a seasonal (or all year round) alternative to other peels and therapeutic treatments. It has a built-in fruit enzyme profile and contains vitamin A derivatives that target the receptors responsible for activating cell turnover, resulting in smoother skin and more even surface texture. This therapy unites exfoliation with reduction of oxidative and free radical stress by introducing a nutritional vitamin and enzyme infusion into the skin. The aromatherapy aspect (smells like homemade pumpkin pie) is to be appreciated, as well. This treatment is appropriate for any skin type or condition and can be performed as frequently as every three weeks.
Web Log - September 2010 - Accreditation
Tuesday, September 7th, 2010Meadow Lake Surgery Center, our in building operative facility, is accredited by AAAASF. Besides being good practice, it is also required to be a member in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Additionally, we are accredited by CMS, a federal government agency. This is required by insurers before they will allow their patients to be operated upon in our facility.
What does this mean? It means that specific to an ambulatory surgery center, we follow the same set of guidelines that any large hospital must meet. This requires a tremendous amount of time, effort, and money, but is necessary to make sure that we are performing at the standard of care and to keep our patients confident in our facility.
We have a 1 day building inspection coming up, followed by another 1 day patient care and records inspection. Patients may see the inspectors, but should not be disturbed by them. We hope our efforts will continue to distinguish us from other local non accredited facilities. Wish us good luck.
